Dear Fellow Bowlers 

 

A short newsletter just to keep you informed of the upcoming bowls events for December and January. 

 

THEME DAY / CHAMPAGNE BREAKFAST 

Monday, 17 December 2012 

Our last Theme Day will be taking place on MONDAY 17 December with the men providing us with a breakfast before bowls at 08h30.  David Minnie is co-ordinating the breakfast and needs the help of other men to make this a success.  Please contact David on cell 083 233 1704 if you are able to assist.  The theme is Christmas, so let’s turn up in red Christmas attire.  Hope to see you all there.  R20.00 per person. 

 

ANNUAL DINNER AND PRIZE GIVING 

Friday, 25 January 2013 

Please keep this evening open for our annual function to honour our prize winners and enjoy a social evening with our fellow bowlers.  More information to follow in January’s newsletter. 

 

LADIES ANNUAL CHRISTMAS DINNER 

Thanks to Marie for organising the ladies Christmas dinner which took place in the evening for the first time to accommodate the working ladies.  We met at the Ocean Basket on 4 December and a good evening was had by all. 

 

 

MEMBER WELFARE 

  • Mark Hensberg has had an operation on his heart recently and we trust you will be feeling much better soon. 

  • Otto Wulf has had a hip replacement and is keen to do the walk in Spain again, so hopefully your recovery is as you hope for. 

Looking forward to seeing you both back on the bowling green soon.

A reminder that the levy for Bowls South Africa and Border Bowls in the amount of R270.00 is now overdue (due date 30 November 2012).  If you have not paid, please do so as a matter of urgency, as the “no pay no play” rule applies from January 2013 (as discussed at the AGM).  A reminder also that the subs are due by end of December.

BOWLS OVER THE FESTIVE SEASON 

Please note the following: 

  • Monday 17 Dec, Public Holiday – 08h30 champagne breakfast followed by bowls, Dress – Christmas theme 

  • Tuesday 25 Dec, Christmas Day – club closed 

  • Wednesday 26 Dec, Boxing Day – bowls at 09h00 

  • Tuesday 1 Jan, New Year’s Day – bowls at 09h00 

Dress for bowls from 15 December to 6 January is casual.  We will revert back to bowls dress on a Saturday from 12 January 2013.
