  • PORT ALFRED TRIANGULAR TOURNAMENT 1-3 November 

We are finalising the arrangements for this tournament.  Unfortunately we are short of 6 bowlers to make up the full complement of 32, so we’ll have to rope in a few Port Alfred bowlers to help us out.  If anyone still wants to join us on this weekend, please contact me on cell 083559 0460.  You are guaranteed to have lots of fun! Trusting we will bring back the Wee-Wee trophy!  Payment of R375 to be paid by Sunday, 27th please!

  • REACH FOR RECOVERY 

Letter of thanks received from Reach for Recovery (breast cancer support group) for the R919.50 donated from the proceeds of the spider at our Spring Tournament.  

 

  • FLOODLIGHTS 

Details regarding the installation of floodlights around our College green were discussed at our recent AGM.  Progress so far … the floodlights have been ordered.  For any further info please contact David Minnie, cell 083 233 1704.   

  • MEN’S CLASSIC & LADIES SPRING TOURNAMENT 

The combined profit for these two tournaments was R23 826 – the most since 2001.  Well done to everyone involved – a fine effort!!! 

 

  • BOWLS AWARENESS DAY 

Sunday, 27 October 2013 

It has been suggested that our theme for bowls on this day is “Generations” where we invite our family and friends (mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters & children) to join us for a fun filled morning of bowls.  For those who would like to make it a ‘fancy dress’ day, for the younger ones – you can dress up as an oldie, and vice versa for the oldies!!!

Format:  Mixed tabs-in 

2 games of 11 ends 

Cost:Members    R10.00 

       Non-members    R25.00 

Bowls will be provided for non bowlers

A list is on the notice board for ladies to enter their names.  We are entering one team in 1st league and two teams in the 2nd league. 

 

  • MEMBERS NEWS 

  • David & Jayne Minnie are away in the Drakensberg enjoying a relaxing holiday.   

  • Anne Robinson is not well and may be going to Bloemfontein for a procedure/ treatment. 

  • Jackie & Rose Wainwright had a motor vehicle accident on the way home from Gonubie recently.  Jackie sustained head injuries, but is on the mend! 

  • Congratulations to new grand-parents Les & Gail Martin on the birth of their granddaughter. 

  • Ivor Johnson was in hospital again for another blood trans-fusion.  Trusting he now has a spring in his step! 

  • Roger Hutchinson has been elected onto the National Greenkeepers Standing Committee.   Congratulations! 

 

  • 2014 BORDER TEAMS 

Congratulations to our Border representatives for 2014 inter-district tournaments: 

MEN:  Mark Hensberg in the A Side, and Peter van Tonder and Jackie Wainwright in the Seniors team.

  • BORDER MASTERS TOURNAMENT 

Congratulations toPETER VAN TONDER  Mark & Jackie on being selected to play in the Border Masters singles tournament.  The top 12 men and top12 lady bowlers in our region are selected for this tournament.  A feather in their cap!
