BORDER LEAGUE

The Border League for men and ladies starts on 26 January and this is the first year the ladies are playing in a league format. As you will understand, it is not an easy task for the selectors to get the teams selected to everyone’s satisfaction, but they do their best for the good of the club. Trusting you will support them in their endeavours. To this end I have included the “Selector’s Prayer” as food for thought...

(Taken from the Border Bowls Newsletter)

Blessed are they who can play sport

Blessed are they who can still be taught

Blessed are they who accept with grace

To play in any selected place.

BEREAVEMENT

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Joy Openshaw earlier this month, who was a founder member of our bowling club. Our ladies provided the funeral tea – thank you ladies.

THEME SUNDAY

Our next Theme Sunday will take place on

20 January 2013 with the theme being

“Nautical...everybody loves a sailor!”

For those who have been away from bowls for a while, this is a good time to come back to bowls, dress up and enjoy!

BOWLS SHIRTS

The order of bowls shorts is being processed and we are expecting delivery in the next 10 days – just in time for the start of the league. For further enquiries please contact David Minnie 083 233 1704.

CLUB COMPETITIONS

The ladies and men’s pairs and singles entry forms are on the notice board. Please enter and pay your entry fee to the person on tab duty, before the closing date.

ENJOY...

Bowling Balls

A little old man boards a bus with a bowling wood in each of his front pockets. He sits down next to a beautiful young lady, and she can’t help but glance quizzically at the man and his bulging pockets. It’s an uneasy few minutes before, finally, the little old man can take no more. “Bowling balls,” he nods reassuringly. The lady seems a little shocked, and stares on. Moments later, she says: “Does it hurt as much as tennis elbow?”

Please contact the committee if you have any comments or suggestions – David, James, Marie, Jayne M, Viv, Glen P, Rose, Jenny, Pat, Des G.

See you on the bowling green!
